Description
The T1D Huddle™ Youth Empowerment Series
Building Confidence. Creating Friendships. Empowering Kids Living with Type 1 Diabetes.
Growing up with type 1 diabetes comes with challenges that many children around them simply don’t understand. The T1D Huddle™ was created to change that.
Designed exclusively for kids living with type 1 diabetes, this three-week youth empowerment series combines movement, teamwork, mentorship, and meaningful conversations to help children build confidence, develop friendships, and discover they are capable of more than they imagine.
Led by Colin Gerhart, a high school student-athlete living with type 1 diabetes, participants connect with someone who truly understands the daily challenges of managing T1D while learning that diabetes is only one part of who they are – not what defines them.

Length – 3 Weeks (July 28 – August 11)
Schedule – Tuesdays 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Session Length – 2 Hours
Group Size – Limited to encourage meaningful connections

Why Choose The T1D Huddle™?
Living with type 1 diabetes can sometimes feel isolating, especially for children. While family support is essential, there is something incredibly powerful about connecting with other kids who face the same daily challenges.
The T1D Huddle™ creates a welcoming, encouraging environment where children can move, laugh, ask questions, build friendships, and develop confidence alongside peers who truly understand life with T1D.
Rather than focusing on diabetes itself, this program focuses on helping children realize their strengths, celebrate what they can do, and build resilience that extends far beyond the gym.
What to Expect
Every session combines fun, movement, learning, and connection.

Meet Your Mentor – Colin Gerhart
Colin Gerhart is a multi-sport high school athlete, team captain, and young leader living with type 1 diabetes.
After being diagnosed with T1D, Colin quickly learned that diabetes doesn’t define what is possible. Today, he competes in football, wrestling, and rugby while inspiring younger children to believe in themselves and pursue their goals with confidence.
As mentor for The T1D Huddle™, Colin shares his own experiences, encouragement, and practical insights while helping every participant feel welcomed, supported, and understood.
Why Movement Matters
Research consistently shows that regular physical activity improves physical health, emotional well-being, confidence, and quality of life for children living with type 1 diabetes. Exercise also promotes independence, resilience, and healthy lifelong habits.
The T1D Huddle™ combines movement with mentorship because confidence grows through positive experiences, supportive relationships, and shared success.
