What is Reiki?
Reiki has the potential to bring about many positive benefits to your overall well-being.
Reiki is a spiritual healing art. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy.” Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy. Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. Reiki practitioners use their hands to transmit Reiki healing into your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy.
Reiki is believed to have been associated with Mikao Usui who is credited with rediscovering the root system now called Reiki. His tradition and methods were passed through several grandmasters of Reiki. Today, Reiki takes many forms, however, The Usui System of Natural Healing is still the form most widely practiced. Practitioners and Master Teachers are trained through an initiation process where Masters pass on their knowledge and expertise to their students.
What happens during a Reiki session?
A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. During a session, you’ll lie on a massage table fully clothed, as your Reiki practitioner gently places their hands, palms down, on or just above your body in specific energy locations. They use a series of 12 to 15 different hand positions.
At the practitioner’s hand placements, you may feel a very slight tingling, heat, or energy, or nothing at all. The sensations or lack of are not a barometer of the Reiki, they are just how your particular body senses energy. Reiki differs from other touch therapies in that there is no pressure, massage or manipulation involved. Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during Reiki treatment, and many fall asleep during the process. Individuals report different experiences. Some say that the practitioner’s hands become hot, others report cooling hands, and some feel pulsating waves. The most common reports are of a release of stress and deep relaxation.
Reiki is beneficial and works with your body’s energy. In fact, your own energetic body is in control of how much Reiki it wants and needs during the session and utilizes it accordingly. Like breathing, you will comfortably take in as much as you need to support yourself.
What is Reiki used to treat?
Reiki is a great tool for stress reduction, relaxation and wellness. It is important to note that Reiki should never take the place of medical treatments and is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing. Reiki can also help you prepare for surgery, which may help boost your recovery afterward.

Danny's success story
I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life. When searching for an alternative option to every other treatment and therapy I had exhausted over the year to find some kind of relief for my neck issue I decided to try Reiki. Prior to Reiki, I had not found any treatment to assist in the chronic pain and discomfort and constant shooting pains and numbness down my right arm. From the first session I knew my Practitioner was truly gifted and over the following months, Reiki changed my life, mood and sleep. The instant relief I felt was truly amazing and I have recommended Reiki to family and friends who are now being successfully treated for their own personal issues.
